Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg, D.Sc., Ph.D. in Architecture, Professor at the University of Arts in Poznań. Studied at the Department of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. She spent a year as a design intern at GRM Kennedy & Partners, a design firm, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Having completed the studies, she started to work at “Mostostal” Design Bureau in Zabrze, Poland, and in the same year she began an internship at the Silesian University of Technology. For five years, she worked on a half-time basis in the Provincial Design Bureau in Zabrze on the implementation of the Progrim, national programme for the revitalisation of urban districts, in the area of the Upper Silesia Agglomeration. At that time, she was also granted her professional licences. Until 1980, first as an assistant and then as an assistant professor, Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg dealt with the issues concerning the History of Architecture and Urban Planning and Development as well as the Restoration of Antiques and the History of Art, conducting classes in these subjects. She took part in design projects carried out by the Institute of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. In that period, her design achievements were mainly complementary and modernisation projects in the Upper Silesia. This practice resulted in scientific studies which mainly synthesised the practical urban and architectonic experiences, including the studies carried under the MR1 Inter-Ministerial Governmental Programme. In 1989, Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg started to work at the Poznań University of Technology, then obtained her postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in 1998 and has been the Head of the Architecture and Urban Planning and Development History Department between 2000 and 2015. The Department headed by Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg took part in scientific research projects, evidenced by the awarded research grants financed by the Ministry of Sciences, numerous publications and participation in international and domestic scientific conferences, which translates into three doctorates and three habilitations of the staff of the Department. The scientific works which she has published over that period concern the theory and the history of the architecture and urban planning and development, the issues related to the architectonic environment perception and the architectonic criticism. The design works from that period are both large-format buildings as well as projects consisting in modernisation and adaptation of old architectonic fabric and interiors for contemporary needs. In the didactic area, after 1989 political changes in Poland, Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg has initiated the process of adapting the programme of teaching the history of architecture and urban planning to the current standards used by the European universities. She has written a methodological guide to didactic classes and a system for students to investigate historical structures by designing models. She has been a promoter, in Poland and abroad, of 12 Ph.D. dissertations, also by several foreign students. A reviewer of many habilitation/postdoctoral proceedings and doctoral theses and an adviser in the scientific projects conducted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Science Centre. She supervises diplomas on both, BA and MA levels of teaching. The foreign centres where she lectured and with which she has maintained scientific relationships include Chinese universities and scientific institutions in Shenyang, Beijing and Shanghai, Technical Universities in Chernihiv in Ukraine and Minsk in Belorussia and Denkmalakademie Görlitz/Dresden. Since 2003, Teresa Bardzińska-Bonenberg has also been working as a Professor of the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the University of Arts in Poznań (the former Academy of Fine Arts) where she gives lectures on the History of Architecture and Urban Planning, Timber Architecture. Since 2015 University of Arts in Poznan is her only place of employment. In the academic year 2017/2018 she lectured History of Conservation of Architectural Heritage at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Applied Arts of Higher Technical School in Katowice
